The 2011 Fall Concert, "Domari" was presented at the Kaplan Theater, Jewish Community Center on September 10th & 11th.  The response was wonderful!  After long months of hard work, the cast was ready to show the results to the public.  From all those involved, we say "Thank You" to the attendees that helped make this successful.  Photos will be posted soon, and we are working to edit video footage for a preview at the VIP/Sponsor reception.

Here are just a few of the comments we received via emails and social media posts about the show:

"From concept to performance, everything was so well-thought out and visually spectacular."

"A fabulous show, I really enjoyed this performance , as did everyone there! thank you for a wonderful time!"

"Wonderful presentation! The emotion conveyed in just the dance alone was spectacular. Great job to all involved!"

"What a wonderful show!!!!!!"

"The show was incredible. I loved it!"

"Congratulations on a wonderful production!  I was there for the Sunday performance and was so impressed by your staging, music choices, choreography, costumes --  what a lovely show!  You made great use of your dancers, but my absolute favorite numbers were your solo at the end of Act 1 and your duet with your long-lost daughter at the beginning of Act 2."

The Story:

In 1534 (during the reign of King Henry VIII), the English Parliament passed the Egyptians Act, requiring all Romani (more commonly known as “Gypsies”, “Travelers”, or “Summer Walkers”) to leave Great Britain or be arrested, dispossessed and deported. Many years later, Queen Mary amended this ineffective act to include not just the dispossession of the Romani, but the death of any “Egyptian” still in the country.

Our setting is 16th century Scotland, and our story involves the Romani that came to Stirling and the Scots they encountered while there.  We see the relationships built by people of diverse cultures, despite the challenges that surround them. Most of all, we see examples of bravery and sacrifice when least expected.

A story of friendship, family, prejudice, tolerance, acceptance and love.

Event proceeds benefit an Alzheimer's family in crisis.
